I recently watched the last episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and afterwards heard some disappointment about the lack of anticipated vitriol against the POTUS. My take was that Colbert’s not-so-much-as-mentioning the president’s name was an intentional theme. This got me thinking about a more famous, but subtle and extremely effective, “dis by silence:” the Exodus account and the pharaoh.
